Port of Gdynia

Land Transport and Travel To and From Port Gdynia
(Gdynia, Eastern Pomerania, Poland)

Ground transportation from the port of Gdynia is good but is by no means the best available at a European port. Trains provide the best option, with a direct service to Gdansk, while a limited bus service is available.

Hiring a car online and making your own way is another sensible option and provides you with the means to explore the area prior to or following your ferry crossing.

Travel by Bus and Shuttles

Buses terminating at the Gdynia Gówna train station are available from various regional destinations.

Car Hire and Road Travel

From Gdansk, a single road connects with Gdynia and the distance is 13 miles. The average journey time allowing for traffic and traffic lights is about 40 minutes. The road is a major highway and well served by petrol stations, shops and fast food restaurants.

If you want to rent a car for your stay in Eastern Pomerania, we recommend avoiding the local dealerships and booking online ahead of travel. This way you will ensure that you get the best rates and get the vehicle of your choice. Also, by booking online, you will have a car waiting for you when you arrive at the ferry port in Gdynia.

Trains and Rail Travel

Rail travel is the most convenient and efficient means of reaching the port, with connections to the town of Gdynia from a large number of regional destinations. From Gdask to Gdynia, the journey time is just 35 minutes. Commuter trains serve the route and depart every 10 minutes from platforms 4, 5 and 6 of Gdansk's main train station.

Car Parking

Short-term and long-term parking is available at the port, but there are limited spaces. There are also a small number dedicated to disabled drivers.

Travel by Taxis

Taxis are available on the quayside outside of the ferry terminal. Most taxi drivers speak some English.
